Japanese red maple tree
Japanese maple

This splendiferous (yes, that is a real word) Japanese maple resides in Columbus, Ohio with my friend, Loysetta. She assures me the photo is untouched by photo editing software.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas with family and friends.

    1. Hey Linda. I bought one in Atlanta on one of my trips to see my sister. I’ve had it several years and it has just not thrived. I thought that might be because it was in full sun so I moved it to the edge of the flower bed under the cypress tree. It still looks snake bit. I absolutely LOVE Japanese maple trees but it’s looking like I’m not going to have one of my own. There are varieties that will grow in Zone 9 but maybe they meant Zone 9 in California. I dunno. There was one for many years in front of my nearest Publix but I haven’t noticed it for a looooooong time so either it is not thriving or it died.

  1. Merry Christmas to you Linda. Loysetta’s maple is beautiful. It was one of my Mom’s favorite – she had one planted outside her sewing room window so she could see it while she worked. I plan to plant one here on the property in her memory, when I find one that I can afford. Thanks for sharing. xo kim
