TOO MUCH RAIN!

Post last updated: November 4th, 2018

The Gator pond was given its name by my friends, Loysetta and June. I don’t remember the circumstances as that is too far back in history. The likelihood of ever finding a gator in the pond is slim to none because it is roughly 10 feet by 10 feet. Certainly not big enough for your average sized Florida gator.

Normally, the Gator pond is bone dry with nothing but leaves rattling around in the basin. An abundance of rain has filled the pond to the brim.

  1. Ok, I’ll be the 1st to ask. Is there a gator in that pond? Is it a UF Gator? Maybe just a lil ole southern gator with scales. Perhaps the one that did the skin cream commercial? Gee, he’d be a celeberty!!

    1. Farmpest – No, there’s no gator. It isn’t big enough for anything but a baby gator. Certainly not big enough for the skin cream gator. It’s just a name that was given to the pond as a joke because, at one time, I was known as “Gator Bait,” another joke that had something to do with me living in Florida, best I can remember.

  2. After all the rain, don’t discount that a Gator could show up. They’ve been seen here. Over the past 50 years that I know about there were 3.

Our Mayhaw pond is full and running over after several years of being mostly dry. .

    1. Nell Jean – I don’t discount the possibility of a gator showing up because there is a large body of water across the street at The Hippy’s place. It was the site of an old “borrow pit” where white sand was extracted. He may even HAVE gators over there for all I know. My gator pond is like your Mayhaw pond. Empty most years.
